Who Waits

Ah, the beginning
who waits long at the ferry
this looks like the sort
NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:
Illustration description: A dark, shadowy, waterfront scene. The pier with its row of stumpy posts (5 in total) is backlit black. Seemingly in place of the second post from the right stands a simplified figure, essentially the silhouette of a post with a head sporting a brimmed hat. A large, full, bright white moon hangs in the top left corner over a rippling sea, similar in tone to the dark grey-blue sky, if lighter more hints of violet. The words of the haiku hang centred in the sky above the water in white Caflisch Script Pro Bold font.
