Wildflowers

Let wildflowers speak
when your words fail
to break the dam of silence.

They will blossom
out of the hardest rock,
they will glow
in the darkest storm,
and they will stand tall
in the hottest sun.

Let their colors flood
your anxious lips
and deliver your words
in red cries for courage,
blue whispers for sorrow,
and white prayers for hope.

Let them sing
your silent garden
as they fade, wilt, fall,
and forever sprout
out of the stout clay.

Unyielding wildflower,
you shall bloom
at the edge of woe.
