She is Not There

She is Not There

written by: Margaret Karim

Escapes parents
Disintegrating lives
Confusing world
Bitterness, lies
Does not understand
New reality
Wishes they explained
Requires certainty
Neither see her
She is not there
Could it be
They no longer care?
Heads for oak tree
Its majestic canopy
Curls on undergrowth
Listens to Nature’s symphony
Bird song, rustle of leaves
Predictable continuity
Aching heart attains
Temporary security
