A Shell in The Sea

A Shell in The Sea

written by: KCEM

A beautiful tree by the sea looks on and recalls the lamenting some while ago

A storm, a sea
I am a shell in the sea
I want to find a shore

Who do I ask
I have no control, arms, legs,
The waves are not obeying me
The wind murmuring on
No power, none…

I am a shell in the sea
How do I reach the land
And not drawn

Do I speak to the wind
Gathering, tossing the waves, tossing me
Can’t they hear me
Neither the waves nor the wind

I float, I am tossed
I float, I am tossed
There must be a reason

I keep bobbing, I keep sliding
I keep falling, then up
Then what, where to then?

I am spurted up
Kicked out of the way briefly
nearly hit the side of that beast!

Ooh back to waves, thank God
breathe, breathe some more
Oh, nice, the soft water, the lifting wind,

Aw, aw, enough of this
I lurch forth, I lurch back
I catch wind, I try to tussle with the foam… uurgh

I want ashore, where is the shore
I am battered, I am bruised
I’m a shell in the sea, please find me a shore

nice, not asking much
get me there in time
before I rot & give up, and die
