Life in the City Muted

Life in the City Muted

written by: Franci Eugenia Hoffman

Once the mist lifted
deafening was the silence
where are the people
city din became went voiceless
oh, how I miss lasting memories
of urban spaces.
oh, how I miss the vibes
of hustle bustle
a city once cordial, now
unearthly and pitiless
her persona cold and
lifeless
I locked my doors, and
shuttered my windows
I can’t live in a city
with no pulse
I’m fleeing to cosmos
where stars gigglesnort,
the moon serenades
lovers, and clouds hum
in four-part harmony
I’m taking a flight tomorrow,
and hope to see you there.
