The Killing Box

Sitting in
the garage
is the
killing box.
Orange, it
stands out
on the counter
next to earth
splattered lawn
equipment
and a broken
bicycle.
Its world is ashen.
Shells of intricate
brown and black design,
grave markers.
The residents
long vacated.
Vaporized
in a sea
of white foam.
A holocaust,
smelling of salt.
