Auguries Of Doom

Auguries Of Doom

written by: Mark Kodama

Scientists, speaking in tongues,
Chanted auguries of doom.
Holy men, through divine revelation,
Predicted the end would come soon
Common men, in self indulgent contemplation,
Watched television sets in bedrooms.
As mankind sped ever faster
Toward apocalyptic tombs
Darkling thrush, our avian friend,
Sing a song of hope for foolish men.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

Science is the two-faced god Janus.  It offers hope for the future and the seeds of our own destruction.
