Silence Is Me

“I” am an alphabet,
a complex word,
that sits in silence listening,
to the vacuous prattle
they call small talk.
I look at the floor
my eyes follow the dust
dancing on the sunbeam,
that sneaked into the room
from the window,
rising and falling,
going nowhere.
I am the sunbeam
listening to the dust
of conversations
that go nowhere,
that will be forgotten,
or unnoticed as the sun rises higher,
and the sunbeam leaves the room.
I am the sun in the sky,
observing green trees,
flowing rivers and mountains,
people talk all the darned time,
Silence is Me.
