Blueberry Banter & Blueberry Blues
written by: Fay Marmalich-Vietmeier
Blueberry beginnings and Blueberry ends,
A Valentine verse for my family and friends,
A blueberry poem, I write as I should,
Blue-writing is funny and funny is good!
This poet tried writing with blueberry style,
The writing was fun … the writing brought smiles!
Valentines, like berries, are chosen with care,
Nurtured and treasured, love-ventures to share,
Blue is the berry that turns love to true.
This rhyme is for giving … I’m giving to you.
What Valentine gift for my Valentine friends?
A Valentine memory, I’ve not much to spend,
We’ll go to a restaurant called
“Blue Berry Wishes”
A most special treat … full of blueberry dishes
To get there we ride on The Blue-berry Train.
And wonder of wonders … we see blue-tinted rain!
On the mountains we marvel at berry-blue snow,
We see blueberry-clusters and blueberry-rows,
They’re bluer than blue these berries we see,
They stop and we pick them with glorious glee!
In this blueberry Heaven, every thing’s free!
This bounty of berries makes beautiful dishes,
I can see why they call it “Blue Berry Wishes.”
A blueberry breakfast or blueberry lunch,
A blueberry supper or blueberry brunch,
There’s blueberry this and blueberry that,
Our eyes can’t believe a berry-blue cat!
This feline is friends with blue-birds and blue-jays,
Tis merry and mystery … what more can we say?
There’s blueberry more and blueberry most,
Our berry-blue waiter and most merry host,
Sent blueberry wine for our Valentine toast
Blueberry chocolate or blueberry mousse,
Blueberry truffles with berry-glazed goose,
Or simmering, succulent blueberry stew,
A savory dish, my favorite … it’s true ;~)
At home, perhaps I can make it for you?
Blueberry bagels with blueberry jam,
Blueberry biscuits with berry-soaked ham,
Blueberry pancakes with blueberry sauce,
What fun to cook berries … to stir and to toss!
Blue-bubble cones and blue-blasting pops,
I can only eat those in my blueberry socks ;~)
Banana-blue splits topped with berries are hits,
I love about berries – they don’t have those pits.
Blueberry pies and blueberry cakes,
Blueberry blizzards and blueberry shakes,
If I eat all of this my tummy will ache!!!
Blueberry muffins with blueberry cream,
I must put an end to this blueberry dream!!!
I send Valentine wishes to family and friends.
I am sad to convey that my poem must end.
I had a berry-good time with this Blueberry verse!
This blueberry babble … I need to rehearse,
I’ll read to my Valentines this Blueberry greeting,
And then we’ll be off for our Valentine meeting.
