MOTHER OF EXILES

MOTHER OF EXILES

I crack and twist under this storm,
Solitary steps on loud, crowded roads,
Hungerless & empty with sacred honours,
My eyes on tomorrow just to endure,
O mother of exiles, can I rest some more?

The addict is me, but no ice in my veins,
The fanatic I am, but doubt only weighs,
The Prophet I seek to gamble my days,
The King is me, fury to ash my fated war,
O mother of exiles, can I rest some more?

Demons wait deep in my shadow,
Awaiting collapse in rebellious calamity,
As time makes tragic quivers of us all,
A hopeful fever breaks on this final shore,
O mother of exiles, can I rest some more?

Brightest cracks only in my darkest times,
Unlocking more colours of the chameleon,
A fickle liberation slain to account for life,
Before oblivion usurps my most holy lore,
O mother of exiles, can I rest some more?
