Who Am I?

Who Am I?

written by: Renaissance Lucy

Who am I?
Is the question
I have always had!

Who will I be?
How will I become who I’ll be?
What do I need to know?
What do I need to have?
How much money do I need?
Why do I need to know?
Why can’t I be happy?
With who I am now?

Who I am now is
Someone I wondered about
In the past
What I’m now realizing
Well, I knew, but forgot
What I’m re-realizing
Is happiness
is in the present moment
The now

I need to be grateful
for who I am now
And I will become
Who I am supposed to be
Whether I worry about it
Or not

What is the answer?
Who will I be?
Floating down my narrow path
Hungrily, looking at the future
I can’t see that I have
Everything I already need
Sure I need to think about
The future
But like a hawk
In the sky
I need to evaluate it
All from way up high

What I didn’t know was
That I’m already who I’m going to be
There will always be pieces of
Who I’ve been inside
The future me

I knew all of this
I’ve learned it before
Present moment
Gratitude
Self love
Self-compassion
But the day to day
Chipped it away
Until I was back in the rat race
And all my jungle knowledge
Slipped away.
