A chance meeting

We meet again. In this life time,
under the same moon and stars
nothing has changed I see
and we still bear the scars
of other lives we have lived
in other ages under other names
through disguises indistinguishable,
our essence remains the same.
Hands that fed upon my body
now rise in a terse greeting
those lips that tore into mine
are mildly entertaining.
It’s your eyes I dare not look into
I see my lives reflected there
I watch as you avoid my gaze,
your soul eaten threadbare.
Go your way as I go mine
there is no room for disdain,
we can wait another lifetime
or more, until we meet again.
