A Stranger

A Stranger

written by: Aishwarya Chauhan

a stranger came

as a savior
as a well in a desert
as a ray of light in a dark room
as the rain pours on sweltering lands
as a gust of cold breeze caresses a body
burning under the scorching sun

his heart
softer than a petal
stronger than a diamond

his lips
only parting to say
things to me
that my mother would say
to a man with trodden hopes
and a heart so hurt

his eyes
holding an ocean of kindness
and a whole universe of love
yet seeking the same in mine.

my heart becomes a home
to wishes

a wish
to make a flower bloom in his heart

a wish
to worship those lips with mine

a wish
to show him the same abundance
of kindness and love
in my eyes

and when our eyes meet
they will look like nothing
but a reflection in the mirror
