Almost 30 Years

Nearly thirty years ago today
He took your soul away!
Against your will.
It was a murder-suicide!
Apparently he was terrified to die,
Yet he was absolutely done with living!
Too much mental anguish!
So they say.
In the dark of the night
He knocked on your door
You answered
Crystal Orb Staff in your hand!
Bang!
Bang!
Both your lives quickly ended!
You weren’t just my first boyfriend!
You were my first experience of a soulmate.
So many years I grieved your loss,
So senseless! So violent! So savage!
Though our time together was brief.
For me it was intense,
All this happiness! I felt complete!
Then it all changed battling,
All this endless grief!
Now as I think of you on this day,
No more pain stands in my way.
In my early 20's I began writing poetry, 20 plus years later I am attempting again to create poetry. I live with a debilitating illness called Schizophrenia. This is a very often misunderstood and mistaken illness. My writing stems from my personal journey in this regard and from other personal experiences.
