Along The Kings Road
written by: James Yesley
I want to lay on the grass with you.
Holding hands.
Enjoying each other’s company.
The sky is beautiful today.
The leaves crunch underfoot.
It’s almost Thanksgiving.
Though I’m not feeling very thankful.
Time is a thief.
The days pass and life slips away from me.
Love slips away from me.
The small joys keep me afloat.
It’s sure as hell not the money.
I’ll be down again when the booze is gone.
Until then, there’s a chance for me.
I keep my course.
On paths rarely walked.
No fellow travelers.
Just the road and I.
