And God Rejoices

And God Rejoices

She is the bright sun, and he is the black moon,
She is luminous, he is a dark dream.
She is a view to behold, and he is obscure
in the shadow of the twisted trees’ crown

In the glare of light over the colors of the sea
She flies every morning on the clouds,
dancing and gathering, the sleeping stars
in the embroidered shawls of the Azov valleys.

And he is a wild wolf: of a hollow cave
dancing with death, destroying, pounding on
the wayward jackals, gnawing the evil cannibals
mercilessly – so he is a wolf.

He is the moonlight, she is the summer sun,
forever separated and always alone.
Their paths never crossed.
In the dance of the net are their footsteps.

And yet they met – across the ravine,
beyond the passages of the earth, across the border.
Like the moon and the sun dancing together in the clouds.
And God rejoices…
