Beauty and the Beauty Parlour

Beauty lies in the eyes
of the beholder,
said Keats long ago.
In the modern world it lies
in the beauty parlor though.
It’s the place where
an old, wrinkled face
gets a younger look back.
It’s the place where
a dull, weary face
gets a refreshing break.
It’s the place where lips
with a brush of lipstick
are readied to lure a youth
and her lover’s heart soothe.
