Beside The Road

Beside The Road

I traveled up and down the road

in search of dreams, success un-gleaned

Misleading, lofty high ideals

conviction blurred, my thoughts confused

I tripped and stumbled on the path

my steps unsure, my mind unclear

With ego bruised, I turned around

somewhere somehow along the way, I had a grand awakening

For what I looked for somewhere else

was always near and nowhere else

The journey’s end, where it began

beside the road, within my reach
