Betrayal’s Despair

Betrayal’s Despair

written by: Ginny M. Jones

In shadows’ grasp where pain does dwell,
A heart once warm grows cold, a special hell.
Scars spread like webs, a spider’s art,
Entangling beauty before it can start.

The tears, they flow, like rivers wide,
Down cheeks they journey, from deep inside.
The abyss of deceit, a black hole’s maw,
Threatening to swallow, what’s left to awe.

We tread on a wire, so fragile, so thin,
With the pain that seeks to pull us in.
Step by step we inch our way,
Towards hope and happiness, come what may.

Heavy steps in a world of endless gray,
Living with the pain, day by day.
From within that pain a bitter truth we bear,
Some betrayals you can never repair.

The pain unrelenting, no solace, no reprieve,
With each step we take, we grieve. We grieve.
On the desolate tightrope, we silently roam,
Til the endless pain starts feeling like home.

The darkness we search for a glimmer of light,
To guide us through the never-ending night.
The heart, though battered, still yearns to believe,
That beauty can heal, and pain will recede.

To mend the scars we think to break those ties,
But even 10,000 steps the heart defies.
So while pain may persist, we learn to endure.
The face of betrayal we learn to obscure.

Walking the tightrope, a delicate dance,
Between darkness and hope, we take our chance.
For in these moments, we find our strength,
To rise above despair, to go to any length.

When pain’s relentless grip refuses to yield,
Our hearts grow numb, and we learn to shield.
But the pain never leaves, never really departs,
So poets and artists make their pain their art.
