Beyond The Spotlight

Beyond The Spotlight

written by: Bipul Banerjee

Beyond the spot light there exists
A darkroom
Smeared with sweat and
Odour of sleepless nights
A witness box that has seen
Endless failures and pools of tears
A spot that often instigated to give up
A drop that said “go for it once more”
A pedestal that held tired limbs
A rug that wrapped hopeless thoughts
A windowless prowess painted black
A fine crack through which a ray of hope gate-crashed
The ‘knocked out’ soul stood up again
With trembling skeletons within
For the battle was not over yet
Till you refused to be declared dead
Now the trophy for all the endurance
Is bestowed in the spotlight
Where the naked wires hooked to the dark room
Remain invisible
