Bonfire

Bonfire

written by: Aishwarya Chauhan

Sitting with you
next to the bonfire
in your garden
in the night
while watching the stars
I saw you look at me
with so much love
in your eyes.
The next second
words came out
of my mouth –
“I speak a word
and you’ll say something
that relates to it.”
You nodded
with a smile
from the corner of your lips.
I brushed my lips on yours.
“Water – Ocean”
“Fire – Relief in winter”
“Sky – Blue as your eyes”
“Clouds – Rain in the desert”
“Rain – Water”

We laughed.
“Sun – Bright as your face”
“Moon – Calm as you’re when I’m chaos”
“You – Yours”
“Me – My everything”

We smiled.
