But Then, I Wonder…

But Then, I Wonder…

written by: Arouba Abbas

People—
They are so loud,
Loud—yet hollow,
Empty and shallow.
Mask over mask,
Hiding inner darks.

I wish to be somewhere quiet,
Where—
A person is truly found,
Soul knows no imprisonment,
Truth flows,
Wisdom converses,
Silence chatters,
And peace resides.

But then,
I gravely wonder—
Where does a person escape
When it is the quietness
That becomes loud—
To the point
That it deafens
The chaotic crowd?
