Cafe Aural

Cafe Aural

written by: Allan Lake

In mellifluous murmur, china
cup clatter, caffeine cacophony
defenceless I sit in warm womb
as weather beyond pained panes
does its worst. Trapped in trapezoidal
Saskatchewan [see map of Canada] besieged by freezing winter wind,
collaterally damaged, sworn at by
coffee bean grinder within and howl-
ing wind without, future tensed
until gentle wee crocuses come.
Til then I am the despondent
correspondent in caffeinated
trench on the front line of
cafe counter-culture.
