Celebration

Celebration

written by: Sujata Dash

A holiday most awaited
where fun frolic spooky decorations onset
coveted and thrilled togetherness
the spirit of jouissance engulfs us in its entirety
at the same time this flurry of activities
does hold a deeper meaning …I feel

Not that I have not bought costumes, candy
nor planned scary decorations, spider webs and skeletons
to get into the mood, like many
yet, I contemplate to connect with self
and with own ancestors amid this jamboree
to delve deep into the mystery of life
seek guidance in every step from forefathers
for this blessed sojourn of one time

This holiday season, my plan is to
let go of dark thoughts from mind
discern nuances beyond the realms of living
to me …life is continuous
and death is only a pause
to live life to the fullest
all I need is to shed fear
embrace the ultimate truth
perceive life’s ultimate purpose.
