A wall, strong and true

Determined not to let anyone through
Each stone was a mark of your determination
Never to feel any pain
You were stalwart in your fear
But there would be no gain
Then he came along
So innocent, so sweet
And he began to chip away at your walls
But you were not ready to concede defeat
As the days marched past
He whittled away without pause
And on the day of his first birthday
Low and behold there was a door
