Christmas Time

Christmas is the time
to warm you like hot chocolate,
make you gooey as a marshmallow
when you gaze lovingly
at the tree. The presents glow.
The scene could be borrowed
from a Christmas card.
Now is the time to make a snowman
plump as a turkey. Now is the time
to watch icicles long as carrots
drip from branches. The backyard
pond is a frozen lake.
What warms it all are the family,
the love, this time.
