COVID-19

COVID-19

written by: JahArt Kushite

there is a dark cloud hovering over
mother earth
she is clasped in dark hands of death
the eyes of darkness have raised
their eyelids
wide eyed and beyond all margins
and grids
across borders and boundaries
mother earth painfully cries
there is an incurable pandemic
her inhabitants are under panic
death is unsparingly roaming around
bodies heading six feet underground
where did we go wrong
have we been blind all along
or we’ve been arrogant
our hearts being adamant
drowning in selfishness
consumed in greediness
from each other hate pushed
us, farther
haven’t we separated from
one another
in names of race, colour and creed
deaf that we couldn’t pay heed
to the messages from the universe
is it not nature taking us back in reverse
to remember ourselves once more
for it wasn’t like this before
we have lost love and our morals
now a catastrophe follows
