Doomed for Destruction

Doomed for Destruction

written by: Susan Glamuzina

He walked under the ladder
when he saw the black cat.
thus started the events
that could not be unwound.
the broken mirror
tears that followed
clock watching for his destruction
knowing it was approaching
he read up on superstitions
sunk in realisation
other’s broken
he didn’t know the rules,
now he had broken them
he was doomed
in so many ways
given up
hurled caution to the wind
living carefree
why not
he was dying anyway.
each day lived to the fullest
absorbing each experience
yet no grim came knocking
slowly he forgot
