Eternal Quiet Now with Chatter

Eternal Quiet Now with Chatter

written by: Alan David Gould

I will not wait for other days
to say the things
that matter:
For time itself is waxing bold
and drumming with hot fingertips
Meanwhile, the dance of old prevails
Eternal quiet now with chatter

That I must go to unknown depths
with all the power that truth
can tell:
For your desire is dark and deep
Just out of reach of heart and hand
Beyond reproach or reprimand
inside a wishing well

One cannot touch the sacrosanct
But heartstrings sometimes strain;
they must!
For they are sinewy and strong
with effort made and reconciled
through years of unrequited love
Essential steel may gather rust

If I recoil at circumstance,
forgive me as I try
to cope:
For I must be the warrior,
the soldier, and the servant true,
who loved the deepest part of you
eternally, with lasting hope
