Flight of Thought

Flight of Thought

written by: Vidya Venkataramanan

At sunset
I perch on a dead branch,
I know I make a beautiful
Silhouette,
Against
The backdrop of the
Orange
Of the setting sun.
Many a poet will
Burst into verse,
But
They know not
That
The flight
Of an eagle
Though it seems to touch the heavens,
Doesn’t give me a taste of it!
Bumping into clouds,
Sun in my eyes,
I fly,
Searching for that piece
Of heaven.
No one told me
I could find that in
myself
 in silence,
No one told me
The clouds
And stars
Each had their
Patterns
In the sky,
Floating and
Scattering
To the whims
Of the wind.

Looking down
I see mankind
Plunder and kill each other with
Guns and words,
At least, we only plundered
To eat!
Animal or man,
Knowing not
Which is which,
They live
Rich and snitch,
At least we
Soar above these
Glitches
And
Live and let live.
I rest at sunset
On the broken branch,
Hoping tomorrow’s
Sunrise
Will show me
The way home ..
