Freedom, a poem by Jessica Dudzinski at Spilwords.com

Freedom

Freedom

written by: Jessica Dudzinski

Freedom.
You,
In your retirement beard,
Constantly,
Condescendingly,
Remind me
That you are so much better
Than I.
my trauma
Is of no comparison to
Yours.
You
have seen
War.
I
have seen nothing so
Horrific.
No matter that men
Men
so like you,
Took advantage Of
me,
As a child.
My
trauma is nothing.
Inconsequential.
My
trauma is
Simple.
You
Remind
me,
I
am free because of
You.
Yet,
I
have been within
A prison
You
Created.
You
Like those before
Have stolen
my
freedom
My
will
My
joy.
You
in your selfishness
Have placed
Me
Within a cell
Created by trauma.
You
Remind
Me
That
You
Are the reason
I
Am free.
