Gone

Gone

written by: Peyton Moser

There were dozens of you,
your voices mangled by the skeletons you became
because one decided that dozens had no value.

There were hundreds of you
that we cannot find because you were smothered by the flame-
hundreds that we cannot find, actions we can’t undo.

There were thousands of you
and you lost your life, your love, your voice, your name
and thousands of voices cried and died all for the comfort of a few.

There were millions of you
and you all had worth, but they set you all aflame,
and now hundreds of you and thousands of you
and millions of you have turned the same pale hue.
