What is age
but just a page
Groups of days
months and years
Stage by stage
increase the page
Infancy and childhood
adolescence to adult
When my gaze
confronts the mirror
Beyond the creases
and the folds
I see the person
that once was
Eyes still sparkle
mouth still smiles
The heart is young
the body strong
A mind that yearns
a will that burns
Yes it is me
I am the same
Age is but
a changing number
It will never
put asunder
All the joy
that’s meant to be
Never surrender
and remember
A stage remains
the page is sage
