You Smiled

You Smiled

written by: Karin Porter

You smiled at me
And I forgot everything I ever knew
My mind was empty
My heart full,
Bursting with a warmth I’ve never known.
When you smiled
The room lit up
Basking in your happiness
You were handsome to begin with
But your smile even made me forget
That your eyes are brown.
Now I live to see you smile
Even if it’s not for me
Cuz I’ve been in love since the very first time
You smiled at me
And I’ve started planning our life together
Even though it will never be
That’s what your smile
Does to me

My name is Karin Porter. I am from Newton Upper Falls, MA. Writing has been my life long passion. My favorite writing is in my personal journals. I have regular day to day life journals, and others for my work experiences, gardening, childhood memories, and dreams/poetry. From 1991-2001 I wrote, edited and published "What's Brewin'", a fan newsletter all about the Boston Bruins hockey team. In those early Internet days, my newsletter helped connect Bruins fans from all over the world. I made many friends, having become pen pals with many of the people who subscribed. I started my blog "Life is What you Make it" in 2011. It is not a money maker, but it brings me personal satisfaction. I write posts about everyday life, and thinking positive. I am a certified Activity Director, who plans and implements activities for nursing home patients. My hobbies include photography, drawing, painting, cooking, and gardening. I LOVE animals more than life itself. God has been good to me!
