I Must Go Back

I Must Go Back

written by: H. W. Bryce

I must go back to the rapid’s view
before life runs too late,
I must see once more that wondrous place
to kiss Mother Nature’s face.

For I can see in the eyes of age
Little boys arafting up that stream,
Huck Finn and Tom Sawyering against
life’s strong pulling slipstream.

Oh! If I could but go back to then,
recapture the joy and wonder
of boyhood and honest faith in life,
live today that joyous life,

I could forgive myself my faults,
Shed self blames for failures.
Oh, I would turn a leaf
And I would show you enlighteness,
and I would show you my happiness.
