I Stepped Aside

I Stepped Aside

written by: LJ Jacobs

Twins in the womb
And she wanted first light
So I stepped aside
The best education, only for one
A matter of cost
So I stepped aside
The handsome man at the discotheque
Saw me first, but you first saw him
So I stepped aside
Our parents old and frail
And you with a budding career
So I stepped up
But really it was still to the side
Then the day the out of control car came
Crashing through the garden fence
Your uninvited wedding guest
Heading for me
With you –
The golden girl –
Just behind

So I stepped aside
