I Walk The World in Wonder

I walk the world in wonder,
stopping here and there
to try to see
the unseen, the hidden, the sweetness
of a reality the mind cannot grasp,
a world of myriad dreams,
a time of endless dreaming,
a becoming
even as we lay dying little deaths…
I struggle to awaken
from the deepest sleep–
every morning I wake,
yet still I sleep…
sleep and sleep and sleep.
Sleeping deep and lost
as I walk the lonely day and
keep quiet the night,
tethered by holy darkness–
and dream and dream….
I walk the world in hope,
in hope of awakening,
finally,
awakening from a very long
and tired dream–
fresh once again…
ever awakening…
to joy beyond comprehension….
Nolo Segundo, pen name of retired teacher L.J. Carber, 77, became a published poet and essayist in his 8th decade in over 180 literary journals in 14 countries. In addition to the 2 previous poetry books published by Cyberwit, THE ENORMITY OF EXISTENCE and OF ETHER AND EARTH, a 3rd book, SOUL SONGS, was released year ago which includes in addition to 60 poems the mini-memoir, 'The Day I Remembered My Soul.'
