I’m Going on a Job Hunt

I’m Going on a Job Hunt

written by: Nina Taylor

I’m going on a job hunt
I’m going to bag a good one
What a fabulous day
I’m so prepared

Oh-oh! Forms. Long complex forms
Can’t skip over them
Can’t duck out of them
Got to go through them:
Scribble, scribble
Scribble, scribble

I’m going on a job hunt
I’m going to bag a good one
What a fabulous day
I’m so prepared

Oh-oh! Tests. Three scary tests
Can’t skip over them
Can’t duck out of them
Got to go through them:
Choose click, choose Click
Choose click, choose click

I’m going on a job hunt
I’m going to bag a good one
What a fabulous day
I’m so prepared

Oh-oh! Chat. First friendly chat
Can’t skip over it
Can’t duck out of it
Got to get through it:
Chitter, chatter
Chitter, chatter

I’m going on a job hunt
I’m going to bag a good one
What a fabulous day
I’m so prepared

Oh-oh! Panel. Four person panel
Can’t skip over it
Can’t duck out of it
Got to get through it:
Gulp, breathe
Gulp, breathe

One huge table. Four pairs of eyes. Hundreds of questions
Quick, run!
Back down the lift
Out to the street
Jump on the bus
Into my house.
Oh no! Now got to start all over again

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ has always been one of my favourite children’s stories. So I hope Mr. Rosen doesn’t mind me channelling his story into a different scary adventure.
