Longing for Sarah

Longing for Sarah

In our wanderings to a new land,
your sea blue eyes-
cool the burning heat of the roads.
We were wrapped in a veil of faith
without looking back,
and I hid your beauty from kings-with it

You were my wife, my sister,
wrapped in the light of God.
You preached, shared, loved,
And when you laughed-
You begot a nation.

גַּעְגּוּעִים לְשָׂרָה -רְפָאֵלָה וַרְדִּי

בִּנְדוּדֵנוּ לְאֶרֶץ חֲדָשָׁה
יַם עֵינַיִךְ הַתְּכֻלּוֹת
צִנְּנוּ אֶת שְׁרַב הַדְּרָכִים
נִכְרַכְנוּ בִּצְעִיף אֱמוּנָה
מִבְּלִי לְהַבִּיט לְאָחוֹר
וְהֵלַטְתִּי בּוֹ יָפְיֵךְ מִפְּנֵי מְלָכִים

הָיִיתְ לִי רַעְיָה וְאָחוֹת
אֲפוּפָה בְּאוֹר שְּׁכִינָה
דָּרַשְׁתְּ , חָלַקְתְּ , אָהַבְתְּ
כְּשֶׁצָּחַקְתְּ
הִתְעַבַּרְתְּ
לְעָם
