Midwinter Reverie

Midwinter Reverie

written by: Sharlot Ivanov

Praise be the nativity of our Lord;
For blessing us with well-earned quietude.
Sipping herb-infused water from a gourd,
And honoring Yule with bountiful food.
Frigid winters cannot benumb the love,
That surrounds an undisturbed fireplace,
Yet it may bring together turtle doves,
And maintain peace among the human race.
How can we wonder for one’s suffering,
When merriment brings the year to a stop?
The blackest night in all its glittering,
Sends its regards from the local gift shop.
May midwinter bring forth festivities,
For us to sit back and unwind with ease.
