Mind Those Gaps

Mind Those Gaps

written by: Dilip Mohapatra

In the frenzy’s blur
of rush hours
when you alight
from the local train
don’t trip and titter
avoid those traps
and mind those gaps…

How you hate
those disruptions
the ads between the
streaming music
or the online games
you play
and those devious
gaps between what
you think
and what you say…

You raise your brows
and frown at
the distressed denims
your grand kids flaunt
and in turn
they retort and taunt
‘old man this is all about
the generation gap.’

All those fissures
and cracks
which impede your
tracks
all those slips
between the cups
and the lips
those discontinuities
in life
which stop you short!

Those ravines and gorges
all those chasms
and breaks
which delay your treks
and spasms
that choke
your fleeting breaths.

Mind those gaps
for they are sure
to spark mishaps
like of this
psychotherapist
ruined and roaming
his sign mispainted
Psycho the rapist!
