Mini Utopia

Sex is a miniature utopia
we create
amidst the loneliness of the world.
Pulling hair, scratching, sucking and penetrating,
brutal acts become arousing,
in the deep trust of lust.
But like all utopias,
this one is fractured too;
for the loneliness always returns.
Giovanni Fruncillo is a poet and professor at a college in Northern New Jersey.
