Modern-Day Icarus
written by: Kenneth Vincent Walker
And, I refrain;
Resolute, astute,
In fact utterly, most
Beautifully obtuse
To these provocative
And demonstratively
Subversive things.
As if I had wings to
Soar above the fray,
A modern-day Icarus
Of my own choosing
Before losing it all to
Fall precariously into
An unforgiving sea of
Discarded humanity.
