Mountain Climbing the Walls

Mountain Climbing the Walls

written by: Erica Kirk

When I dream,
I’m always on a plane that’s crashing,
I’m always in an ocean thrashing,
when I dream.

When I dream,
I’m always in a vortex crawling,
I’m always in an abyss falling,
when I dream.

When I dream,
I’m always in a labyrinth turning,
I’m always in a building burning,
when I dream.

When I dream,
I’m always wide awake and bleeding,
I’m always hoarse from my pleading,
when I dream.

When I dream,
I’m always at a cliff edge leaping,
I’m always left alone and weeping,
when I dream.

When I dream,
I’m always startled by the silence,
I’m always stunned by the violence,
when I dream.

When I dream,
I’m always with my melancholia alone,
I’m always holding an answerless phone,
when I dream.

When I dream,
I’m always striving for another chance,
I’m always chasing one more romance,
when I dream.

When I dream,
I never awaken feeling better,
I write the sandman another letter,
when I dream.
