My Sun

My Sun

written by: Laine Monroe

The Sun-
the biggest star in the sky,
the key to life.
Everything owes credit to its glory:
The plants, humans, animals,
Even the moon bows to its greatness.
For without it, it would not shine.
It would only be rock.

But…but just as it gives life, it drains.
Could burn you without trying,
Drain you of your essence,
And still promise you warmth.

Are you my sun?
Will you give me life, or…
Take it away?
