October’s Child

October’s Child

written by: Diana Burns

October she was born
a child of beauty and grace
now, October’s forlorn
for we no longer can see her face

Her smile, once bright
has gone forever
her inner light
to be seen again never

Now she is no more
she was taken without warning
and the smiles that we once wore
have changed to wails of mourning
