Our Crystal Ball

Our Crystal Ball

written by: Debby Hackbarth

I headed out at nightfall.
I walked for an hour to the mall.
My goal was to meet up with Paul.
We fought an uncharacteristic brawl.
As I sauntered along, I heard a bird call.
I looked up and observed a spectacular starfall.
The stars told me my life needed a massive overhaul.
When Paul came close, I confessed I was a goofball.
He held me close and said he had a wake-up call.
The meteor shower spoke to him to stand tall.
“I confess I’ve been acting like a Neanderthal.”
The shooting stars were our crystal ball.
It rescued our love from a free fall.
