Patchwork History

Patchwork History

written by: Johnch

That woollen camel coloured coat found
Loitering in my local thrift shop
Ignored in its scrunched destitution—
Just what I needed for my patchwork quilt.
Bought, scissored to just the right shapes.
There in the lining,
A letter from a destitute, in blotted black—Letterhead, Fleet Debtor Prison

Instructions to solicitors,
Podleigh & Son, Batman Street Melbourne.

Sell:

Sheep from Patterson’s run
Two draft horses but not my gun
The dray and its load of hay
Complete by first of May.
