Pieces of Us

Pieces of Us

written by: Soulful Azure

A life I had promised for you,
A mirror created just for me and you,
Broken into a million pieces.

Pieces of us that we love,
Pieces of us that we hate,
Pieces of us that we relate,
Pieces we grew to hate but came to love because of us.

But broken isn’t gone, it lives,
A million pieces of beginnings,
And a million pieces of ends.

Our beginnings were to start together,
But fate was holding tightly to the tether.

Our mirror of reflection,
Now has many projections,
Tightly we hold on to the precious,
To the tiny remains of our pieces.

Breaking, cutting, slowly dying,
All that breaks can be mended,
But all that dies cannot be brought back to life.
