Refractions

Refractions

written by: Thom Klodowsky

The sun drills into
my apartment (vis-a-vis
my eyes) through our
Southwestern facing windows
earlier and earlier each day,
casting an angelic
radiance onto my cat
as she bats her paws
against the wall, hoping
to catch and kill
refractions.
Maybe one day,
she’ll finally get
her prey, but until then,
she’s content to try, fail,
repeat, then retreat
back under the coffee table:
Bewildered.
